5 Fun Ways to Inject Colors Into Your Space
Let your chosen colors pop and captivate your guests
We’ve proven it countless times—color can immediately perk up a space and set the mood in an area. Whether it’s a bold color on the walls or a vignette of accessories in striking hues, it can draw the attention of guests and make your home stand out. If you’ve been thinking about experimenting with color, but still unsure as to how or where to start, we’ve put together a list of ideas you can work on:
1. As a slipcover
In a minimalist space dominated by white and gray, add warmth by showcasing shades of brown. To transform this unit, interior designer Tala Singson used a brown flat sheet to cover the sofa.
The DIY slipcover matched the neutrals in the space and the touches of wood, too. With colorful and patterned pillows as extra furnishings, the living area is made more cozy and inviting.
2. As an accent wall in the bedroom
To make the master bedroom as calming as possible, the TKSL interior design team opted to dress the bed in white sheets while keeping the accessories to a minimum.
However, with white sheets and curtains, it might get too plain and dull. To keep this from happening, the wall behind the bed was painted deep blue. The chosen color adds to the relaxing feel of the space as well as ties the look of the bedroom with the rest of the unit.
RL Tip: Aside from choosing a solid-colored wall, you can also look into the possibility of having horizontal stripes and other patterns in different colors to liven it up. Those who love framed prints and photographs can also create a gallery wall featuring colorful frames.
3. Through your bed linen
It's easy to feel the tropical vibe of this condo home the moment you step in. The designers worked with white, wood, and accent colors to achieve the serene feel of a weekend getaway. Since light colors were chosen for the walls, they opted for a striking hue to complete the sleeping space.
Teal sheets and pillow covers would remind you of the beach—with paper boats completing the look. Investing in quality linen not only allows you play with color, it's also an easy way to reward yourself after a tough day at work. After all, who wouldn't want to sleep in a pretty and inviting bed?
RL Tip: Those who aren't a hundred percent sure about colorful sheets can consider working with printed pillow covers and duvets—these pieces can help you embrace color and see how it can add life to the bedroom.
4. Through wallpaper
Those who aren't ready to let paint brushes completely change their spaces can always depend on wallpaper to make a difference. In fashion blogger Laureen Uy's condo home, an arresting wallpaper defines the dining area.
Complemented by a bright yellow cabinet and a console in another lively hue—the wallpaper can easily catch the attention of guests. To make the colors stand out, the rest of the pieces are muted colors.

5. Through furniture
If you've been planning a dining area makeover for quite sometime now, you may want to invest in new dining chairs. The catch? You don't need to go for matching pieces!
A mismatched look can add a fun and quirky vibe to your dining space. Opt for a sturdy wooden table and pair it with colorful upholstered chairs. When choosing pieces, make sure you go for colors that complement your home's palette. In this country-inspired home, refreshing picks like green and blue pop against the light-colored walls.
