A 25sqm Scandinavian-Inspired Condo Unit

Every day is a fresh start in this bright and cozy one-bedroom home in Tagaytay

It’s not surprising why NEST @ Tagaytay, a 25sqm unit you can find and rent on Airbnb, has become a favorite among those looking for a sweet escape from city life. Nestled in the heart of Tagaytay, this home away from home looks airy and spacious—thanks to the clean palette, relaxing details, and customized pieces chosen for the space.

Since owners Brice and Brian wanted to create a homey and welcoming ambiance to give guests an unforgettable stay, they took inspiration from modern Scandinavian design. The duo also noted a few ideas they read on realliving.com.ph and Real Home Ideas 9: 25 Condo Makeovers, then applied these in finalizing the look of the unit. However, having too many ideas proved challenging for the two given the limited space they are working with. Luckily, by following their instincts and having a vision set in stone, they were able to achieve a comfortable home that many can’t stop raving about.

Entryway

The kitchen and dining areas can be accessed from the door. Choosing light colors helped expand the space and keep it from looking cramped.

Living and Dining Areas

The owners opted for wooden furniture pieces in light finishes to complement the walls—creating a simple yet picturesque space.

Living Area

The customized sofa features wooden pallets transformed into a welcoming seating piece. A cushion was added to ensure comfort while a set of pillows with colorful covers breathe life into the area. For similar pillow covers you can visit The Landmark, Makati or SM Home.

Dining Area

Planning a trip with friends? Around four people can sleep soundly in the condo and the dining table can be adjusted depending on the number of people, too. All you have to do is pull the extension out and add more stools.

Entertainment Corner

If you've seen all the landmarks and sights Tagaytay has to offer, nothing beats coming home to the NEST and enjoying a movie marathon. The huge LED TV takes center stage in this part of the home while a console cabinet in white provides ample storage for the guests' essentials. Two bar stools are placed neatly on both sides of the setup to accommodate more people.

Instead of using ordinary rugs and carpets, the duo opted for grass carpets to add color to the unit. Doing so allowed them to incorporate Greenery, Pantone's Color of the Year for 2017, easily as well. If you're looking for something similar, visit Wilcon Depot.

Design Detail

To echo the refreshing, happy vibe that they want to share with visitors, the owners spruced up this wall with positive phrases. Simple reminders like "laugh a lot," "love each other," and "use kind words" are just a few quotes that will put a smile on your face.

RL Tip: Do you love setting up vignettes? Liven up a corner by putting a vintage decor piece or an old music player on top of a stool? Complete the look with potted succulents.

Reading Corner

Even with a tight space, Brice and Brian were still able to incorporate a mini work/reading area in the bedroom. Guests can use this spot to read a good book or enjoy a cup of coffee while admiring the breathtaking view.

RL Tip: When furnishing a tight corner, choose pieces with slim legs. Don't forget to measure the area so you can choose the right furniture. Click here for more tips.

Looking for similar pieces? Drop by Habitat, 3/F Abenson (beside Ascott Hotel), 28th Street and 4th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City.

Bedroom

To liven up the wall above the bed, the owners opted for a hand-painted quote that says "Everyday is a Fresh Start." They personally love waking up to the simple yet inspiring thought after a good night's sleep.

Bedroom

Crisp sheets complete the bed—adding to the comforting and relaxing vibe of the space. Pillows reminiscent of nature and the outdoors make the bed extra inviting, too.

Meanwhile, a door leads to the balcony while natural light illuminates the entire unit. Brice and Brian maximized natural light as it adds to the bright and fresh feel of the home.

Bedroom

To keep the bedroom serene, only a few decor pieces were added. The nightstand holds an alarm clock, a framed piece, and a bird cage all in white.

Balcony

The balcony is the best spot if you want to take in the beauty of Tagaytay and enjoy some quiet time. Two stools serve as seating pieces while a table can hold drinks, snacks, and reading materials. The area also features grass carpets to create an outdoorsy feel. It also adds a refreshing pop of color to the outdoor nook.
