In magazines, what you see isn’t always what you get. Case in point:
This photo was taken by Miguel Nacianceno for this month’s alternative window treatments story. That sturdy crib is from Mobler, that curtain made out of doilies was crafted by Rach and her mom!
While dismantling and pulling out the crib took a lot of time and grunt work, setting it up was a cinch. That’s because we found an easier way to get the shot we wanted…
That’s me, caged in, while art director Arlene (milky white legs and all) helps me hold up the “crib.” Miguel’s assistant, Kuya Marlon, is flexing his muscles while holding up a curtain rod with the doilies (we weren’t about to ask Rach and her mom to make an entire curtain!), and pulling back some of the existing curtains at the playroom in my brother’s house. Before this pic was taken, we had to clear the area of toys so I had space to sit; while it was being taken, I had to press myself against the daybed so my head and arms wouldn’t be caught on cam. All the while I had to find the proper placement of my legs so that the others wouldn’t have to endure an impromptu peep show. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Whoever said magazine work is glamorous is so misguided.
So, yeah, we cheat, er, “magic” some shots. The next time you admire how a dress perfectly fits a reed-thin model and curse yourself for not filling the dress the same way, remember this: There’s probably a bunch of clothespins at the back of that outfit to get it to drape just-so.

btw, i noticed that the crocheted curtain didn’t have a pattern (like there are swirly patterns of the right most curtain is only seen in the bottm part of the middle part, and none of these in the left part)… was this how this was designed? (la lang, just curious)

Hi Laida, the crocheted “curtain” is actually made from several of my mom and grandmom’s doilies.
They all have different patterns, and I just sewed them all together. It doesn’t matter if they don’t match, I actually find it charming.
Tish, post ka pa ng mga magikero photos!

hi ms rachelle, why is there no post yet for the feb issue? just a feedback, there’s a page in the feb issue where the clock’s price is indicated, and yet the clock is not there (it’s the same pic as the cover, but the pic inside had a table runner instead of the clock, w/c is shown in the cover). i also looked for the brand and price of the table used in the cover, it wasn’t there (unless i missed it).
yun lang. have a nice day.

Hi Laida, we only have one issue for Jan-Feb. If you mean the table on the cover of our March issue, we used one from our office! You can probably find something similar at office furniture stores.

oops my bad - yeah it was the march issue.
Tisha et al, it was worth the wait! i got the jan-feb issue as early as jan2, tapos i had to wait for 2 months to get the mar issue march 2! pinapatulan ko na nga pati back issues, kaya lang the ones being sold that i see i already have!) good job, guys.
btw, i started collecting your mags when we were just planning to have our house made. 6 months after moving i’m still collecting. even my husband asks me to get the latest as soon as the month changes. yung toddler ko, he’s almost 4, loves looking naman at the pictures, and comparing it to our new house.
thanks thanks thanks!
